COMPLEXIONS COURSE

Welcome to the complexions course! The title of this course plays a key role in the attention I aim to attract and the change I strive to achieve in the makeup industry. For years, there has been a lack of education when it comes to understanding how to apply makeup on darker skin tones. The Australian beauty industry, in particular, is notorious for excluding and disregarding people of color. Individuals with deep complexions still lack trust in many industry makeup artists who claim to be inclusive but have no diversity in their portfolios. Even visiting big brands like Mecca & Sephora for makeup application can turn into a frustrating experience due to artists' lack of understanding of deeper undertones and limited experience working with them. However, this is not their fault. The abundance of incompetent artists results from students being educated by artists who have little knowledge about makeup for darker skin tones, creating an industry-wide problem. I created this course to educate artists about the unspoken complexities of deeper complexions. This course will significantly contribute to your development as a makeup artist and, most importantly, your ability to work with a variety of skin tones. As a fully qualified makeup artist and beautician, I have experienced and witnessed inconsistencies in inclusivity throughout my years in the industry. This is my first step in combatting the lack of diversity in the makeup industry
